					  <title><![CDATA[NORTHERN OREGON COAST]]></title>

this diverse tour and see vineyards, mountains, and ancient logging
camps then sample giant cinnamon rolls, Tillamook Cheese and of course
the ice-cream!<p>
Leaving Downtown Portland, travel through the rolling farmlands and
over the gentle coast range. The first stop will be at Camp 18 for a
short break and a peek into the past. Here you can investigate old-time
logging equipment, a restaurant and a gift shop all housed in one of
the largest log cabins.</p><p>

Get out your camera for the next stop at Klootchy Creek Park, to see &#8220;the tallest Sitka Spruce in the US.&#8221;</p><p>
You will then travel to Cannon Beach where you&#8217;ll catch glimpses of the
magnificent Pacific Ocean, smell the salt air and hear the waves
pounding against the rocky coastline. You will have time to explore the
shops, galleries, and the many restaurants.
A must-see and a wonderful photo opportunity is Haystack Rock, towing
235 feet above the water, it is the most photographed monolith on the
Oregon coast.
You&#8217;ll stop in the Tillamook area, which gets an annual rainfall of
over 90 inches and sustains Oregon&#8217;s most productive dairy center. At
the Tillamook cheese factory, observe the cheese-making process and
sample the finished produce, including the ice-cream.</p><p>
On the return trip to Downtown Portland you will follow the Wilson

largest and best known mountain stands guard beside the Columbia River
within viewing distant from Portland. Mt. Hood and the cliffs of the
awe-inspiring Columbia River Gorge look down on quaint riverfront
towns, countless waterfalls and exhilarating windsurfing waters.<p>
At 11,239 feet Mt. Hood is the second most climbed peak in the world.
The often photographed Mt. Hood is home to Historic Timberline Lodge, a
classic post-depression make work project in 1929. </p><p>
Next, travel the scenic route to Hood River Valley where you will stop
at a fruit stand to sample the bounty for which the valley is known.
Runoff from Mt. Hood&#8217;s volcanic slopes enrich the soils in the valley
making Hood River Valley one of the largest fruit growing regions in
Oregon.</p><p>

Lunch (on own) is under the Bridge of the Gods on the scenic Columbia River.</p><p>
The tour continues to Multnomah Falls, plummeting 620 feet to the river
gorge floor. At the base of the fall sits, Historic Multnomah Falls
Lodge, circa 1925. You can either climb the foot path to the Benson
Bridge or visit the lodge in its entire splendor.</p><p>
Travel the scenic highway visit Crown Point Vista House along with a
photo stop at Latourell, Wahkenna and Horsetail Falls from your coach
window.
Continue on the scenic highway en route to Downtown Portland arriving

you depart downtown Portland you will soon come into view of the
mountains, waterfalls, and forests inside the famous Columbia River
Gorge National Scenic Area. And while you travel to Bonneville Dam and
Visitors center to view the salmon swimming up the fish ladder, and
also view &#8220;Herman&#8221; the age-old sturgeon.<p>
Bonneville Dam provides hydropower productions, fish and wildlife
protection, recreation and navigation for the Portland area. Bonneville
Dam has one of the largest public viewing facilities and you can take a
self guided tour. You will also learn about the Bonneville fish
hatchery, which produces millions of native fish for release into the
Columbia River and operates two restoration programs for threatened and
endangered species of native northwest fish.</p><p>
After touring the facility, you will then travel to Multnomah Falls,
the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States plummeting
620 feet to the river gorge floor, and is Oregon&#8217;s number one tourist
destination. On this tour you will have the opportunity to visit the
falls up close and witness all the sights and sounds that make this
destination so popular.</p><p>
As you make your way back to Portland you will stop at Crown Point
Vista House, one of the best look out points in the Columbia River
Gorge National Scenic Area. Photo stops from your coach window for
Latourell, Wahkenna and Horsetail Falls, arriving in Downtown Portland

Portland is the only city in the United States with an extinct volcano
within the city limits. Twenty downtown water fountains were a gift to
the city from an early-20th century timber Baron. Experience what makes

Your tour will begin at Pioneer Courthouse Square &#8220;Portland&#8217;s Living
Room.&#8221; You will begin by winding through the streets of Downtown, Old
town and Chinatown. See the Pearl District, a neighborhood that is
being renewed to upscale loft condos, then its fountains, bridges,
markets, sculptures, the theater district, parks, museums, and
buildings. </p><p>
It is just a few minutes drive to Washington Park where you will tour
Arlington Heights residential area and the Hoyt Arboretum. In
Washington Park, you will visit the world-renowned International Rose
Test Gardens and the incredible gift shop.</p><p>
Pittock Mansion, listed on the National Historic Register, is the next
stop. Here you will tour the mansion which was completed in 1914, with
stunningly progressive features including a central vacuum system,
intercoms, and indirect lighting. The final estate includes the
mansion, a three car garage, a greenhouse, and the Italianate gate
lodge servants&#8217; residence, all situated on 46 acres of land almost
1,000 feet above Portland.</p><p>
