the Brazilian Empire, Cachoeira was Bahia&#8217;s wealthiest and most
populated town. To this day, its original character still remains in
its houses, churches and historical buildings. Protected by the
National Institute for Historical and Artistic Heritage since 1971,
Cachoeira, after Salvador, is the city that has the most important
Baroque architectural heritage in Bahia.<p>
While there, we will visit Igreja Matriz and Ordem Terceira do Carmo.
Crossing a colonial bridge (Ponte Dom Pedro II) over the River
Paragua&ccedil;u we will travel from Cahoeira to S&atilde;o F&eacute;lix In S&atilde;o F&eacute;lix well
visit a traditional cigar factory that was founded in 1873.</p><p><br/></p><p>

Seco is 220 km from Salvador in the extreme north of Bahia. It is the
edge of a peninsula between the sea and a river among mangroves (hence
its name Mangue Seco).There are no roads to the place. Coming from
Salvador we will cross Real River &#8211; which separates both states &#8211; in a
traditionally covered canoes.<p> On the other side of the river we will
take a 40 minute ride (in a buggy car) around the sand dunes. There
will be stops for photographs and the ride will finish at the beach, 1
km far from the village. We will stay at one of the beach restaurants
where food, drinks (not included), shower and hammocks (for a nap)
await us.</p><p>
This is the best beach of Bahia! At 3 pm we will leave the beach and
head to the village to visit Tieta&acute;s House (famous character of a Jorge
Amado&acute;s novel). There we will enjoy ice-cream. There is also an
