During the Brazilian Empire, Cachoeira was Bahia’s wealthiest and most populated town. To this day, its original character still remains in its houses, churches and historical buildings. Protected by the National Institute for Historical and Artistic Heritage since 1971, Cachoeira, after Salvador, is the city that has the most important Baroque architectural heritage in Bahia.

While there, we will visit Igreja Matriz and Ordem Terceira do Carmo. Crossing a colonial bridge (Ponte Dom Pedro II) over the River Paraguaçu we will travel from Cahoeira to São Félix In São Félix well visit a traditional cigar factory that was founded in 1873.

The streets of Central Salvador take tourists back to the beginnings of Brazil. Our tour begins at the Barra Lighthouse. We will then pass the Teatro Castro Alves, Forte de São Pedro and Praça Castro Alves on route to the Historical Center (Pelourinho).

More than a thousand homes, churches and monuments built since the 16th century help make up the greatest collection of Baroque architectural heritage in Latin America.

Mangue Seco is 220 km from Salvador in the extreme north of Bahia. It is the edge of a peninsula between the sea and a river among mangroves (hence its name Mangue Seco).There are no roads to the place. Coming from Salvador we will cross Real River – which separates both states – in a traditionally covered canoes.

On the other side of the river we will take a 40 minute ride (in a buggy car) around the sand dunes. There will be stops for photographs and the ride will finish at the beach, 1 km far from the village. We will stay at one of the beach restaurants where food, drinks (not included), shower and hammocks (for a nap) await us.

This is the best beach of Bahia! At 3 pm we will leave the beach and head to the village to visit Tieta´s House (famous character of a Jorge Amado´s novel). There we will enjoy ice-cream. There is also an optional tour returning to Salvador at 4 pm.

Our tour begins at the Dique do Tororó, with its images of Afro-Brazilian orixás and the Fonte Nova football stadium (soccer). We the proceed to the Lower City, with a stop at the famous church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. At Forte de Mont Serrat, you will see a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Our tour ends with a visit to the Lacerda Elevator and the Mercado Modelo craft market.

70 km from Salvador, Praia do Forte has been nicknamed the "Brazilian Polynesia." Its 12 km of beaches provide for a whole range of leisure pursuits.

During this tour, you will visit the sea-turtle conservation project (Projeto Tamar) and a fishing village. Then sea bathing at Praia de Guarajuba, (famous for its warm waters and tide pools) will follow.
