Scandinavian Airlines (SAS)


Passengers should arrive to the airport 2.5 hours before their scheduled departure. Passengers with carry-on bags only who are returning the same day can check in for both outbound and return flights.

Self-service check-in available at most airports, allowing passengers to select seats, check bags and print boarding passes.

Passengers traveling on flights between Scandinavian countries can check in on the SAS Web site, starting 22 hours before departure.

Business Class passengers can check in at certain SAS Business Hotels or by telephone.

SAS encourages passengers to become familiar with general security guidelines.

Frequent-flier program

In the EuroBonus program, passengers earn points toward free airline tickets or upgrades when flying SAS and all Star Alliance partners. Other participating airlines are airBaltic, Air Greenland, Atlantic Airways, Blue1, SAS Braathens, Cimber Air, Estonian Air, Icelandair, Maersk Air, Qantas, Skyways, snowflake, South African Airways and Wideroe.

Airport club or lounge

Passengers with a EuroBonus Gold Card or Star Gold card can access SAS lounges or use any Star Alliance airline's lounge. Lounges are available

html" target="_new">throughout the world. Business-class passengers can use SAS Business Lounges.

Carry-on policy

Business Class passengers on intercontinental flights can carry on two items. Economy Class passengers can carry on one item. Each item may not exceed 18 pounds (8 kg) or 45 linear inches (115 cm). Other rules apply

In-flight meal options

SAS offers about 15 special meals such as kosher, low-calorie and vegetarian, as well as meals for children and infants. All special meals must be ordered at least 24 hours before departure. Business Class passengers on intercontinental flights also can choose from a variety of regular meals.

Unaccompanied children

Children ages 5-11 must either travel with a companion 16 or older, or use SAS's Unaccompanied Minor service. The service is also available for children ages 12-15 if they require assistance. Reservations should be made as early as possible, and a small fee is required.


Passengers can bring pets aboard SAS. Dogs or cats are allowed in the cabin as long as the animal's weight, including kennel, does not exceed 18 lbs (8 kg), and proper documentation accompanies the animal.

Cool or useful amenities

Business Class passengers on SAS receive socks, a Temple Spa moisturizing balm, earplugs, a sleep mask, and a "do not disturb" sign. Entertainment options include 12 video channels, 10 games and 18 audio and radio channels

PC power (110 volt) is available in Business Class and Economy Extra seats. SAS plans to offer wireless Internet service soon on its long-haul flights.
