US Airways and America West have merged and retain the US Airways name.

Check-in pointers

Passengers are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights and one hour beforehand for international flights. Boarding passes must be obtained at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Passengers checking baggage and departing from the following airports must check in at least 45 minutes before departure:

  • Dallas
  • Denver
  • Honolulu
  • Las Vegas
  • Maui
  • Philadelphia
  • Phoenix
  • Pittsburgh
  • Seattle
  • Washington Dulles

Self-service check-in kiosks: Passengers with electronic tickets traveling domestically can use kiosks to obtain boarding passes, select seats, check bags or purchase tickets. (Due to FAA regulations, passengers seated in exit rows must check in in person.)

Web check-in is available for passengers with electronic tickets from 24 hours to 90 minutes before scheduled departure.

Priority check-in is available for to Chairman's Preferred, Platinum Preferred, Gold Preferred and Silver Preferred members.

Frequent-flier program

As a result of the merger with America West, a new Dividend Miles program now is in effect.

Airport club or lounge

US Airways Club members can use its lounges in 15 U.S. airports and London Gatwick. Members can upgrade to access United's Red Carpet Clubs, when traveling on a United flight, and some Star Alliance lounges. Annual memberships are $390.

Carry-on policy

US Airways customers must comply with the airline's baggage policy, which allows one piece of carry-on baggage plus one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, laptop computer, diaper bag, camera bag or backpack.

Carry-on baggage cannot exceed 51 inches (11x14x26). US Airways Express flights can accommodate carry-on baggage of up to 45 inches (19x15x11).

Each passenger is allowed up to two checked bags free of charge. Checked bags may not exceed 80 inches (add length + width + height). Bags greater than 62 inches will be subject to a fee of $80. Bags weighing over 100 pounds may not be checked.

In-flight meal options

Meals and snacks are available for sale (cash only) in coach class on domestic flights of 2.5 hours or more. Snack packs are $3; meals are $5. Standard meal and beverage service is available in first class on domestic and Caribbean flights.

Special meals that accomodate religious and medical diets are only available on trans-Atlantic routes and must be ordered 24 hours in advance.

Unaccompanied children

Children younger than 5 cannot travel unaccompanied. Children between 5 and 14 can travel unaccompanied on nonstop flights for a $40 fee each way; US Airways assistance is required. Children between 15 and 17 can  travel unaccompanied on nonstop and connecting flights without US Airways assistance. Children 15 - 17 who require US Airways assistance when traveling unaccompanied may only do so on nonstop flights, and a $40 fee applies.

Pets

Advance reservations are required for pets traveling in the passenger cabin. Call 800-428-4322. One small dog, cat, bird or aquarium fish is allowed for an $80 fee each way. Pets in the passenger cabin count toward the carry-on baggage allowance. Pets are not allowed on trans-Atlantic flights. More information

Envoy Class service on transatlantic flights features complimentary invitation to the US Airways Club in gateway cities and satellite phones and laptop power ports in each seat.

US Airways Club day passes are available for $40.

Select US Airways' Airbus A319, A320, A321 and A330 have laptop power ports in the seats.
