Gateway to America is the National Park Foundation's official tour of the five national parks around the harbor. The itinerary weaves together the harbor's history, from its settlement by Native Americans through the tragic events of 9/11, with insight on the environmental features that made the harbor a valuable commercial asset through four centuries.

With museum-quality individual audio players and headsets, passengers hear information that cannot be heard on any other tour.

Gateway to America is introduced by David Rockefeller Jr and narrated by actress Kathleen Turner; there is commentary from National Park Rangers and experts like historian Kenneth T. Jackson, editor of the Encyclopedia of New York; Daniel Libeskind, who emigrated to New York from Communist Poland and became one of the world's leading architects; Pulitzer-Prize winner David McCullough; and world-class swimmer Nancy Steadman Martin, who has swum the 28-mile circuit around Manhattan.

60 minute tours offered daily from May 1st through October 30th at 1pm, 2pm 3pm and 4pm on weekdays. 11am, 12am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on weekends. Not available October 31 through April 30th.
