We
depart for the the town of Ingá, home to the enigmatic Itacoatiara rock
engravings and a museum containing fossils of giant prehistoric animals
that once called the region home. The tour proceeds to Cabaceiras, a
traditional town typical of the Cariri region, with houses dating from
the end of the 19th century, and chosen as the setting for the recent
film, “O Auto da Compadecida.”
Following an optional lunch and short rest at the farm of Pai Mateus,
we’ll visit the Saca de Lã and Pai Mateus outcropping, with its rock
paintings and exotic, mystical stone formations, among which the Pedra
do Capacete (Helmet Rock) is the most spectacular.
