MANGUE SECO
Mangue
Seco is 220 km from Salvador in the extreme north of Bahia. It is the
edge of a peninsula between the sea and a river among mangroves (hence
its name Mangue Seco). There are no roads to the place. Coming from
Salvador we will cross Real River – which separates both states – in a
traditionally covered canoes. On the other side of the river we will take a 40 minute ride (in a buggy car) around the sand dunes.
This is the best beach of Bahia! At 3 pm we will leave the beach and
head to the village to visit Tieta´s House (famous character of a Jorge
Amado´s novel). There we will enjoy ice-cream. There is also an
optional tour returning to Salvador at 4 pm.
