Close at hand is the "cinnamon route" to the Amazon rainforest, which you can drive into descending from the high Andes into the tropical lowlands.

If you prefer a beach vacation just head west into the Pacific lowlands, also just a few hours from Quito. From the coast you can decide to relax on the sandy beaches and bathe in the ware equatorial waters or head for and amazing expedition into the choco rainforest and stay at a lodge, a true hot spot on earth.

Of course the beautiful towns and artisan communities in the Andes are an important cultural attraction, you can visit indian markets and the homes of weavers, woodcarvers and other folk artists. Mountain climbers will find paradise, Andes mountains are amongst the most beautiful and are relatively easy to climb, amongst the most popular are Cotopaxi, the worlds tallest active volcano and Chimborazo, the countries highest peak.

Tour includes departure to the Ingapirca Ruins the biggest Inca Archaeological Complex in Ecuador, located about two hours outside the city. We will make a stop to see how the the famous "Panama Hats" are being woven. On Sundays we can visit the Cañar Market. Lunch is included.

Entrance to the Ingapirca complex is not included.

    We will visit the towns that are known because of their handicrafts, Bulcay Weavers, The Gualaceo Indian Market, CIDAP Museum and the Chordeleg town.

    A12 - OTAVALO MARKET WITH LUNCH

    Departure from Quito through The Panamericana North Highway. After a brief stop at Calderon, a town where the famous "masapan" dolls are made, we will continue passing through Guayllabamba, a town with its typical fruit, cherimoyer. We will stop at the highway that continues to Cayambe to admire and take pictures of the beautiful landscape and snow caped mountains of the area.

    Crossing the equatorial line at Cayambe we will pass by Guachala, which once was the "middle of the world" monument, before we head up to Otavalo. We will make a stop at Mira Lago to take pictures of the beautiful San Pablo Lake.

    The tour then continues to Otavalo. Here the Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping occurs. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items.

    Continuing the trip, we will go to San Antonio de Ibarra which is famous because of its wood artisans. Finally, a visit to the leather shopping stores at Cotacachi is planned before returning to Quito through the Cajas-Tabacundo road. Lunch served in a typical restaurant.

    A13 - COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK AND ECUADORIAN HACIENDA

    Departure from Quito through The Panamericana South Highway, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the place, we will visit the Saquisilí market (Thursdays only) where native people of the region exhibit and sell their handicrafts. Continuing, we will arrive at the impressive active volcano Cotopaxi (5.897 m. High). During our stay at the National Park we will visit the natural environment of the place, its animals and plants, and stop at Limpiopungo lake.

    Depending on the weather conditions we can ascend to the parking area of the Cotopaxi National Park and we can admire the environment. Furthermore we will visit a typical hacienda of the region where animals and traditions of the region can be appreciated. We will then return to Quito.

    Entrance to the Cotopaxi National Park is not included.

    A05 - ECUADORIAN FOLKLORIC BALLET

    Admire the "Jacchigua" folkloric ballet that represents the traditions and customs of the indigenous people of Ecuador. Transfer and entrance tickets are included. Return to the hotel after the performance.

    A16 - RAFTING IN A WHITE RIVER (TOACHI RIVER)

    We will leave early in the morning for the town of Santo Domingo. After two and a half hours we will arrive at the Toachi river, where we will have a security lecture. We will then travel by the Toachi River for approximately three hours. Includes snack after the adventure.


    Note: There is a minimum of 4 people for this tour to run.

    Depart from Quito in the morning on the road that leads to the Amazon Jungle. After an hour and a half ride, we will make a brief stop a the Papallacta Lagoon, located in a "Paramo" with cold weather but beautiful landscapes that contrast with the hot springs pools. This is perfect anti-stress therapy recommended for your health!

    All of this can be enjoyed at the Turistic Complex of "Termas de Papallacta" where natural hikes can be done or optional spa activities enjoyed.
